S07E05 Swim Deep
Open with Dexter cleaning his boat while listening to some advice from Harry. Harry doesn't think Debra will be able to handle who he is long-term. Dexter finds traces of a lot of blood.
Masuka has learned Maria processed a blood slide at a private lab and is freaked-out it means he's going to get fired. Debra asks Maria, who tells her she thinks it's possible the Bay Harbor Butcher is still alive. Lundy's notes indicate that he doubted Doakes was the real killer. Maria brings her into her secret, your eyes-only investigation.
Debra gets into the elevator and begins to panic.
Dexter learns that Louis was the one killed on his boat. Seconds later Debra tells Dexter about the slide with Travis' blood. Maria wants them to speak with everyone who has gone missing since Doakes died and fits the profile of a BHB victim. Dexter points her three people that he took care of. Only one of them, Phillip Barnes, has family in Miami, so Debra will make sure she gets his name. Dexter tells her Barnes was a wedding photographer who would find and kill single female guests. Debra is upset that Dexter grabbed him at a reception, meaning it's possible he was photographed.
Dexter comes home and sees his curtains are open. We see that Isaak is waiting for him with gun drawn. Dexter goes to his car and calls his machine, pretending to be somebody confirming an appointment with Dexter. Isaak hears this and heads out. Dexter sees him walk out and recognizes him from the strip club. Dexter calls Isaak and they establish where each other is coming from. Isaak tells him the plan is to take care of both Dexter and Debra.
Dexter meets with Debra and tells him about Isaak and the potential for danger because he killed Viktor. Debra is furious that Dexter found Viktor's fingerprint at the scene of Anderson's death and didn't tell the police. She wants to arrest Isaak, but he tells her that they can't afford Isaak talking. Dexter's plan is for them to go to a hotel and take special precautions when leaving the station. She makes him promise to never take a case from the department again, but doesn't trust his answer.
While watching the strip club Dexter realizes that Isaak is a boss. Angel calls him with word that Hannah is on her way in and plans to talk them through her spree with Randall and how it related to the belongings Randall's mother brought in.
Hannah fills in the blanks for Angel and Dexter, saying they buried bodies near the hotels where they were killed. When Angel leaves the room Dexter notices that Hannah seems more nostalgic than scared as she plays with a toy.
Dexter reads about feud Isaak's organization is having with the Columbians. In the hotel room Dexter and Debra relive childhood memories from a beach vacation.
Dexter and Angel wait while another Randall victim is dug up. Angel asks him about the bartender who confessed to Anderson's murder. Hannah and Dexter talk about blood.
Maria surprises Debra by meeting her at the Barnes home. Barnes' son tells the women his father used to beat him and his mother and his life has been better every since Barnes disappeared. He brings them some pictures from the wedding his father had been working when he disappeared. As Maria is looking away, Debra spots Dexter in one of the shots. She suggests they take them to the station and spend more time on the analysis.
The couple Randall killed is dug up. They were kept very well preserved by the shower curtain they were buried in. Dexter begins going through how they were killed out loud, but as he looks at the female victim he realizes she was killed by someone much smaller than Randall. He doesn't say this out loud and glares at Hannah, who looks concerned. When they're alone Hannah asks Dexter why he stopped. Dexter tells her knows her story is a lie, pointing out a scar on her hand. She says the DA gave her immunity from any crime committed with Randall. Dexter spots Isaak nearby.
Dexter makes sure not to lose Isaak as he drives to a bar in a part of town frequented by his Columbian enemies. Dexter walks in, makes reference to Isaak's gang, then sneaks out a bathroom window. Isaak follows a few moments later.
While Debra looks at the wedding photos featuring Dexter, Angel comes in and brings up Anderson's murder. Just then they get a call about a homicide at the Columbian bar. But when they arrive they find only dead Columbians. All by himself Isaak was able to kill three people. Isaak was cut and some of his blood is at the scene. Dexter point's out that the blood is that of a fourth person, and not from the three victims. Knowing that it is Isaak's. Dexter reveals his findings of the blood (rather than withholding his findings as he would usually do) at the scene to give Debra and the Miami homicide unit evidence linking Isaak to the murders.
While Isaak is being stitched up at the club, George spots Quinn with Nadia. He tells Isaak that Quinn used to be on the take.
In his car Quinn finds a bag of cash on the seat. He sticks it in the glove and drives off.
Isaak is brought into the station in cuffs. He and Dexter glare at one another briefly.
Angel tells Debra he doesn't think Alex the bartender killed Anderson. Alex had no connection to Kaja, meaning somebody put him up to it. Debra basically cuts him off, saying that since there is no concrete evidence they can't afford to re-open the investigation. She orders him to "let it go" and he reluctantly agrees.
Dexter and Isaak chat through the prison glass. Dexter asks why it's so important that he kills him. Isaak assures him that he'll get revenge for Viktor, no matter how long it takes. Dexter responds that if Isaak ever finds out who he really is, "you'll regret it."
Debra brings Dexter the photo of him taken at the wedding. He thanks her for saving him. She says that her conversation with Angel made her realize she didn't want to be a part of what he does. They have a beer together and talk about that vacation. Dexter burns the photo and Debra walks away.

S07E01 Are You...?
Open with Dexter speeding through highway traffic towards the airport. He stops for gas and, finding his cards declined, goes to the trunk for cash. At the airport he buys a ticket for Budapest, despite eyeing a flight to Munich-Kiev.
He flashes back to the end of last season when Debra finds him with Travis on the slab. Dexter tell her "I snapped," blaming Rita's death. She asks about him being wrapped in plastic and he says it's just "second nature not to leave a trace." When Debra tries to call the station he stops her, pointing out how weird everything looks. He points out that even if it's ruled self-defense he'd lose his job and his son. He suggests getting rid of the body, but she doesn't go for it. Dexter then thinks they could make it look like a suicide, including setting the church on fire. The plan involves gasoline and Debra says she'll go get a few gallons. Dexter flashes back to childhood and Harry wanting to get rid of a dog that Debra likes. Dexter thinks he needs to keep Debra from the "whole truth." Dexter takes down all of his kill stuff.
Debra buys gasoline and the two of them set the church on fire.
Dexter and Debra are quickly called by the church. Dexter helps explain that this was "one final tableau." To his horror Dexter looks down and sees plastic between Travis' toes. They are able to distract Masuka in time to grab the evidence.
On her way out Maria finds one of Dexter's blood samples in a grate. She grabs it and hands it to a tech to be logged into evidence.
Dexter goes home to find Louis standing near his desk. His computer is warm, but Louis says he was just checking basketball scores while waiting for Jamie to get Harrison to bed. Dexter isn't polite about telling Louis it isn't okay that he was messing with his stuff. After Louis and Jamie leave Dexter looks at his slides, immediately noticing that he is missing one.
We see Louis on his computer at home. He complains to Jamie about how much of a jerk Dexter was being and we see that he is canceling Dexter's credit cards.
Anderson calls Debra, curious about why Travis' car wasn't at the church. She seems to give him a valid rationale for why it might have happened.
Anderson stops to help a driver stopped at the side of the road. When Anderson looks in the trunk for a wrench he spots a dead girl. The driver shoots Anderson and takes off in his car.
Debra asks Dexter how he was so prepared to kill someone in such a forensically conscious way. She noticed his clothes were different and he was wearing an apron with plastic sleeves. He has an answer for everything, but she seems bothered by the situation. Debra gets a call about Anderson. Dexter says he'll be "two minutes behind you," but goes for his getaway pack, which contains cash and passports.
Dexter arrives at the scene to find Anderson has been killed. Dexter analyzes the girl in the back of the trunk, while Debra gives him a dirty look. The dead woman's (who also owns the car) name is Kaja. Dexter finds a fingerprint on the turn signal. Debra is re-living watching Dexter kill Travis and is recalling when she was on Brian Moser's table.
At the station Debra asks for the files on the Ice Truck Killer case. She notices similarities in method to what she saw Dexter do with Travis.
Dexter finds no match to the turn signal print. Debra stops in to see him in his office and asks about the similarities to the Ice Truck Killer. Dexter knows the explanation is the Moser was imitating him, but all he says is "this is crazy" and asks her why she was in the church. He tells her it will never make any sense and doesn't mention the print he found in Kaja's car. After Debra leaves Dexter gets an Interpol match to a Ukrainian named Viktor Baskov. Dexter leaves and Debra jumps on his computer.
Dexter goes to the address listed for Viktor and finds blood, gunshot residue and evidence he he's leaving for Kiev in less than two hours.
We're back to the scene from the opening. Dexter pays for his ticket in cash, using a fake name. Dexter gets through security with his needles and finds Viktor.
Angel and Quinn go to the strip club where Kaja worked. Quinn knows the manager, a man named George. He says he has no information. The strippers aren't talking. Angel tells Quinn blood was found outside the club.
Dexter injects Viktor in the bathroom, placing him in a wheelchair and taking him to the airport's lost baggage area.
Debra tells Angel to shut down every one of the strip clubs run by George until somebody talks.
Musaka tells Debra he doesn't know much about the Anderson shooter.
At the bar Quinn and Angel toast Anderson. Angel admits he never put in for a transfer, he was just trying to help Quinn get his life together.
Viktor wakes up on the slab and says he has "very dangerous friends." Dexter kills him with a fire extinguisher.
George calls somebody named Isaac, who appears to be a wealthy Ukrainian in charge of everything. He tells him when Viktor is scheduled to arrive in Kiev and says he'll take care of the problem with Anderson.
Dexter leaves the airport with Viktor's body, wondering if perhaps nothing need change with Debra.
We see Debra on the treadmill. She thinks of something and grabs her phone. She calls Jamie and asks for Dexter. Jamie says he's at work now and tells Debra that Dexter often works until 3 or 4am.
While disposing of Viktor's body he flashes back to Debra asking why Harry took the dog away. Harry says it was because Dexter's allergic, then takes Dexter to another room. Dexter tells Harry he wouldn't have killed the dog, but Harry says he couldn't take that chance. Harry tells young Dexter he can't ever tell Debra the truth. He says Debra would be terrified if she knew what he really is. Dexter thinks his mistake was trying to save Travis instead of killing him right away.
Debra looks back at the Ice Truck Killer file and flashes back to being on the slab. Moser wanted to kill her, but Dexter stopped him.
Maria asks Masuka about the evidence from the church. He tells her nobody's has time to go through anything. Masuka tells her the only person at Miami Metro to use blood slides was Doakes, the man Dexter framed as the Bay Harbor Butcher.
Dexter comes home to find everything in shambles. Debra is sitting on a chair with his slides in front of her. "Did you kill all these people?" she asks. "I did," he says. "Are you a serial killer?" "Yes." Dexter closes his eyes as the episode ends.
